Winter coat drive warms 180 Mount Prospect households

When the first hard freeze settled over Cook County, Helping Hands Charity Foundation NFP opened our doors for a three-day winter coat drive. Neighbors arrived with bags of gently used coats, new gloves still tagged, and blankets folded with care.

What the drive looked like

Volunteers sorted by size, checked zippers, and packed family kits. By Sunday evening, more than 180 households had received winter gear?봫any referred by schools, churches, and neighborhood partners.

Why it matters

Warm clothing is basic dignity. For kids walking to the bus and seniors waiting for rides, a reliable coat is the difference between staying home and staying healthy.
